Do Carmo, Differential geometry of curves and surfaces

The Course Grade will be calculated as follows:

Homework - 20%

Midterm -30%

Final Exam - 50%

Extra credit - 5%

Extra credit can be earned by submitting solutions to extra credit homework problems and by spotting mistakes during lectures
Important: There will be no make up midterm. If you have a valid reason to miss a midtem, the corresponding portion of the Final exam will count as your Midterm grade.
Homework assignments are due every Thursday at the lecture.

Important: No late homeworks will be accepted!

Exam dates:

Midterm : Tuesday October 25
Final : Tuesday December 20 from 1:30-3:30pm

Important dates:

Last day to drop a class with a "W": November 9
Holidays: November 24-25

Announcements

There is a mistake in problem number 3 on the test. It should read
"Prove that the curvature of any curve lying on a sphere of radius $R$ is bigger than or equal to 1/R" (rather than 1/R²).
