Faculty Employment Opportunities
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Maryland invites applications for tenured, tenure-track, and postdoctoral positions in all areas of mathematics. Preference for regular faculty positions will be given to candidates working in the general areas of (1) Algebra, Number Theory, Representation Theory, and Geometry, and (2) Applied Analysis (especially with a significant computational component).
The Department of Mathematics is establishing a group of four biostatisticians with strong methodological background and application experience. This year we looking to appoint a full professor who would determine the research direction of the group, with one tenured or tenure-track faculty hire per year in the following three years. This individual is expected to be a leader in the field of biostatistical research and should have the ability to attract strong grant support. All four faculty members will have opportunities to develop close affiliations with other campus units such as the newly formed School of Public Health or the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
For full consideration, applications for positions other than that in biostatistics should be received by October 15, 2009, and those for the biostatistics position by November 2, 2009. Appointments are expected to commence in Fall 2010, although other times are possible at the request of the candidates.
The University of Maryland is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative
Action employer that strongly encourages applications from female and
minority candidates.
