Program and ParticipantsHere is the CONFERENCE PROGRAM .Here is a LIST OF PARTICIPANTS. Here is a LIST OF TALKS AND ABSTRACTS. Sunday Evening Memorial EventVirtual TalksThere are always more good results then there are talk slots. Therefore we invite participants to submit abstracts of "virtual" talks, with links if desired. We will post these Virtual Talk abstracts and links HERE and also put abstracts on bulletin board at the conference. In the event of last minute cancellation by a schedule speaker, we will look through the virtual talks for possible replacements. Email abstracts (text, html or pdf) to Mike Boyle, mmb@math.umd.edu .Conference PosterYou can view a low resolution version or a high resolution version.Mailing ListTo be added to the electronic mailing list for this and future workshops at Maryland, send a message to majordomo@math.umd.edu with the line "subscribe dswslist" in the message body. Conference Wiki and Sharing RoomsHere is a link to a wiki for the conference. The purpose is to facilitate communication among conference participants, especially with regard to lodging arrangments such as sharing rooms to reduce expense. For example, if you are looking for someone to share a room with, you can type in at the link, and likewise delete your posting after you've made arrangements.LodgingIn general, participants (other than invited speakers) who need rooms should phone a motel directly. Three local motels are listed below, with the rates they have offered our group ("UMCP Math Department--Spring Conference"). NOTE: our room blocks and rates are guaranteed only until March 9, 2010.Rates Extension: Clarion Inn , Comfort Inn and Days Inn have extended the rates deadline above to March 25, 2010. Quality Inn has extended its rates deadline to April 2, 2010. Participants from abroad or others who can use help making a reservation can contact Mike Boyle (mmb@math.umd.edu). (Generally a credit card number is needed, but if that is problematic we will find another solution.)
All of the places above are on Baltimore Avenue (also called Route 1). Clarion, Comfort and Days are north of the University (from these, go south to Campus Drive and turn right). Quality and Follin are south of the University. You can see labeled satellite detail on Google maps if you like: get directions from (e.g.) 6801 Baltimore Ave College Park MD to Building 082, College Park, MD 20742 (Department of Physics). The Physics Building is next to the Math Building. Travel and parking informationClick here for directions to the math department by car and a map for parking. Please note that this year's conference is NOT during our campus's spring break, so all parking rules must be followed strictly. We CANNOT reimburse or waive parking tickets. On weekdays until 4:00 PM, you must park in a visitor lot (expensive -- up to $15/day), the closest of which is marked in yellow on the map at the link above. The Math building, where the conference will be, is also in yellow on that map. Click here for directions to the math department by public transportation. Click here for directions from the three Washington-area airports. Dulles airport is the most inconvenient of the three area airports. The Maryland-Penn State Dynamics WorkshopThis workshop has been hosted each fall since 1991 by Penn State University and each spring since 1992 by the University of Maryland, and is jointly sponsored by the two institutions. We are grateful to the National Science Foundation and to our Department of Mathematics for their continued support of these workshops. You can click here for past programs of the Maryland conferences, information on Dynamics and Chaos at Maryland, and the home page of the Center for Dynamics and Geometry at Penn State, which contains information on the Penn State meetings. |
