The CLeaR Project

The CLeaR Project
University of Maryland, College Park
Using mathematical software to enhance undergraduate
education.
The CLeaR project in multivariable calculus, along with the
SCHOL project in differential
equations, is part of a program at the
Mathematics Department at the University of Maryland, College Park, to
introduce mathematical software into undergraduate courses in a
meaningful way. Collaborators Kevin Coombes, Ron
Lipsman and Jonathan Rosenberg have developed
materials to introduce Mathematica into the
sophomore Multivariable Calculus course. The result is the book
Multivariable Calculus and Mathematica,
with Applications to Geometry
and Physics,
published by the TELOS
imprint of Springer-Verlag.
