The Math SPIRAL summer program in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Maryland in College Park is a multi-year program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Security Agency (NSA). Working with a group of affiliated minority serving colleges and universities, we bring gifted rising sophomores and rising juniors to the College Park campus for a six-week intensive program to help prepare them for graduate study in the mathematical sciences. Math SPIRAL has three core components: academics, research and professional development. This program was developed in close coordination with our affiliated institutions:
This network of affiliates is a central strength of Math SPIRAL. Math SPIRAL is only available to students in the mathematical sciences at one of these affiliates. Applicants should have taken or currently be enrolled in a proof-based course. Housing and a $3500 stipend will be provided to students admitted to the program, which runs from Sunday June 1 to Saturday July 12. Students will be enrolled in a summer course whose 3 credits can be transferred to their home institutions. If you are interested in this year's program, please contact the Affiliate Professor at your home institution, listed in the contact page, for more information. Please use the links at the top of the page to navigate the site, and please contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to receiving your application, and to an excellent summer. | ||
