Lecture Classroom: Armory 0126
Lectures: TTh 11:00-12:15.
Discussion: MW at different times (and in different rooms)
Textbook: Adler, Modeling the Dynamics of Life, Second Edition. This book is expensive but it is being used for both Math 130 and Math 131. The course is structured to follow the book rather closely and all homework is taken from it.
Calculators: You are highly encouraged not to use calculators unless explicitly instructed to do so in the homework problems. No calculators will be allowed in any of the exams. It is better to get used to working without calculators instead of waiting for the exams.
Bio-Modules: supplementary material that discussed mathematical applications of the material studied in class will be available on the webpage in the form of bio-modules. These bio-modules will be studied in discussion sections as listed in the course plan section of this webpage. You should print them out, read them, and bring them to class.
Grading Policy: Homework 20%, each midterm 15%, final 35%
HW Policy: Weekly homework will be assigned on the web. Homework is due in every Monday discussion section. Please hand the work in person to the TA before class. Every week, a selection of the problems will be graded. If you must miss the discussion, please make arrangements for the homework to be delivered to class. Late homework will not be graded. To avoid confusion, do not leave any homework in TA's mailboxes, under the door, etc.
Exams: There will be 3 midterm exams and one final exam. All midterm exams will be held in class instead of a lecture. Sample exams and their solutions are available on the webpage. All exams will be posted on the webpage. If you have any conflicts with the assigned dates of the exams please contact me by email up to one week before the exam.
