  • Elliptic Curves Book - The Web page for the book Elliptic Curves: Number Theory and Cryptography

The course will focus on elliptic curves over finite fields and the rationalswith a slant towards cryptographic applications. The goal is to cover most of Chapters 1-7, 10, 12 of my book on elliptic curves.

    Topics to be covered:

  • Basics: addiiton law, etc.
  • Endomorphisms; the Frobenius map
  • Hasse's theorem
  • Point counting methods
  • Discrete log problem
  • Cryptographic applications
  • Weil and Tate pairings
  • Cryptographic applications of pairings
  • Zeta functions
  • Complex multiplication

    Prerequisites:

Basic group theory and number theory; finite fields
