Personal Information
Paul J. Smith is a member of the Statistics faculty in the
Department
of Mathematics and the Director of the Statistics Program. He
has also consulted for various government agencies and private
organizations.
He received his B.S. at Drexel University and his M.S. and Ph.D. at Case
Western Reserve University. He has been on the Maryland faculty since
1971.
Research Interests

Categorical data analysis.

Robust and nonparametric statistical methods.

Applications of statistics, particularly in the biomedical
sciences.
