Self-organization vs chaos assumption in complex systems

Dr. Pierre Degond

Universit Paul Sabatier

Abstract:  Complex systems are multi-agent systems exhibiting self-organization phenomena through local interactions. In this talk, we will discuss the possibility of modeling many particle complex systems through kinetic or fluid models. Indeed, such models are based on the chaos assumption which states that the agents are nearly independent while self-organization requires the building of correlations between the agents. This question will be discussed through a few illustrative examples.
