WIM Graduate Student Seminar

TOPIC : "What should every college graduate know about mathematics?"
SPEAKER : Nicole Young ABSTRACT : The purpose of higher education is to produce well educated people who can reason cogently, solve problems, and communicate and express their ideas clearly. What role does undergraduate mathematics have in developing these traits in students? In trying to address this issue we will discuss the nature of mathematics, current views on mathematical learning, and recent trends in mathematics education.
