Functions
Elizabeth Stapel of Western International University has created Purple Math as a free online Algebra Resource. This section of the site deals with Functions. It is very nicely designed and formatted and the lessons are easy to understand. It has exercises along the way to help the user to understand what is being taught. This tutorial thouroughly covers what is a function ans what isn't using the Vertical Line Test. This site is recommended for those who are just learning the material as well as those who are looking for a way to review the material. Graphing Functions - Purple Math
Another topic brought to us from Elizabeth Stapel at Purple Math, this section deals with graphing different types of functions. The information is easy to understand and there are lots of graphics along the way to help explain the methods of graphing. In addition to showing the user what should be done when graphing functions, this site also warns about some common misconceptions to help the user avoid making these common mistakes. The site is well formatted and easy to follow. This section includes information on how to graph the following types of graphs: Straight Lines, Absolute Values, Quadratics, Polynomials, Radical Functions, Rational Functions, and Piecewise Functions.

Inverse Functions - Purple Math
Another part of the Purple Math site created by Elizabeth Stapel, this section deals with Inverse Functions. The topic is well explained and the site is well formatted. The author incluse many graphical examples to help the user learn about inveerse functions. This section includes information on the Vertical Line Test. This site is recommended for those who are learning the information for the first time as well as those who simply wish to review the topic. Functions and Transformations of Functions - HMC Online Mathematics Tutorial
Part of the Online Mathematics Tutorial created by the Mathematics Department at Harvey Mudd College, this section covers differet types of functions and transformations that can be made to these functions. This section is well written and easy to understand. The site itself is also very well formatted. (For font formatting problems, see the help page on the site itself!) The lesson includes information on odd/even functions, horizontal shifts, vertical shifts, horizontal stretches, and vertical stretches. This section also includes an exploration section which is an interactive java applet which allows the user to experiment with the effects of the various transformations on a given function.
