Abstract:

This lecture proposes a system sociology approach to the modeling of onset and evolution of criminality in a territory. The modeling focuses on the interplay between the competition for the welfare distribution and the support/opposition to the government. The approach aims at capturing the complexity features of social systems. Complexity is related to the fact that individuals have the ability to develop speci¯c heterogeneously distributed strategies, which depend also on those expressed by the other individuals. The mathematical methods is that of the kinetic theory for active particles, where interactions and decisional processes are modeled by theoretical tools of stochastic game theory.
