The Geometry and Symmetry of Semiclassical Wave Packet Dynamics

Abstract:

I will talk about the geometry involved in semiclassical wave packets as well as symmetry and conservation laws that may arise in the dynamics of them. First I introduce the symplectic/Hamiltonian formulation of semiclassical wave packet dynamics and explain what kind of geometry is behind the dynamics. Then I exploit the symplectic/Hamiltonian nature of the problem to discuss the link between symmetry and conservation laws (Noether's theorem) in the semiclassical wave packet dynamics.
