Asymptotic behavior and scattering for solutions of the Boltzmann equation near global Maxwellian

Abstract:

This talk is devoted to the large time asymptotic behavior of solution of the Boltzmann equation in some neighborhood of "Global Maxwellian" as introduced and studied in the talk of Dave Levermore. Emphasis is put on sufficient conditions enforcing that these solutions behaves for large time as free flows. This leads to the construction eternal solutions which do not coincide with global Maxwellian and of a related "Scattering operator" . I intend to explain that this fact is not in contradiction with the H theorem concerning the entropy decay.
