MATH 274 (History of Mathematics)

DESCRIPTION  An overview of aspects in the history of mathematics from its beginning in the concrete problem solving of ancient times through the development of abstraction in the 19th and 20th centuries.
PREREQUISITES MATH 140 or MATH 220.
TOPICS The course considers both mathematical ideas and the context in which they developed in various civilizations around the world.
