ABSTRACT

We will discuss the development of new schemes for resolving different scales in kinetic models, with applications to pedestrian flow and group dynamics. The microscopic dynamics has been recently used to study a kinetic-based model equation for these two applications. To circumvent the high-dimensional phase space of the kinetic equation, we plan to design moment-based numerical   approximations for these kinetic equation. Several interesting aspects appear within this construction, ranging  from the recovery of correct steady states to the need of including kinetic information in the  the local macroscopic fluxes. Further, we would like to import known properties of the model into the  numerical scheme.
