ABSTRACT

Recently, there is growing attention towards models representing social dynamics. Applications ranges from animal groups to social networks and markets. In a recent paper (http://arxiv.org/abs/1210.5739) some of the participants developed control algorithms to induce flocking (or consensus) in cases were a centralized controller is allows to act on agents, but only in a sparse fashion, i.e. acting on a small number of agents.

The main aim of this working group is to discuss which are the most interesting research directions in the control of social dynamics of large groups of agents and possible techniques to tackle such problems.

GOALS

1) Discuss relevant control problems for large group, in the spirit of sparse information. The latter may include: observability, invertibility, adaptive control and others.

2) Identify the interesting objective functions and the appropriate norms.

3) Determination of techniques to address relevant problems and significant applications.
