ABSTRACT

The coupling of hyperbolic systems with different scales (such as relaxation time, reaction time, Knudsen number,  Mach number etc.) is an important multiscale problem that can find lots of applications in kinetic theory, fluid flows, combustions, etc.  The aim of this KIT is to develop mathematical theory and numerical methods for such coupling problems.

GOALS

We plan to develop robust numerical methods and to establish rigorous mathematical theory for the coupling of hyperbolic systems with different scales.
