ABSTRACT

Hyperbolic and kinetic equations often contain uncertainties coefficients due to inaccurate modelings, measurements, or empirical constitutive relations. Uncertain coefficients could appear as initial and boundary data, in equation of states, collision kernels, or enter into the flux due to uncertain properties of the materials or media to be mathematically modeled.   It is therefore of practical importance to quantify the uncertainties of the solutions to such equations. Also, providing efficient computational tools, which is very challenging due to the nonlinear nature of these problems, become highly desirable.

GOALS

The goal of this workshop is to gather leading mathematicians and computational scientists in relevant fields  to address the state-of-the-art  computational technologies available and the challenges for further studies.  Other than lectures, the workshop will leave time for discussions and interactions for the participants in order to foster future collaboratons.
